Todd is the owner
and full-time
engineer/producer at
Washburn Mastering,
LLC
in Norfolk, VA,
which originally
opened in Virginia
Beach in 1992.
Specializing in
mastering and song
production, Todd has
worked regularly
with the Virginia
Symphony and
associated
ensembles, produced
many of the featured
tracks for the
NASA CONNECT TV
show (Langley, VA),
and mixed the
performance tracks
for major dance
studios across
Hampton Roads, VA
(“best music mix”
award from the NYC
Dance Alliance
2001).
Todd is also the
president of
Avaland Music
Publishing (BMI),
which received VH-1
Song-of-the-year
“Top 5 Winner” for
“I Can Almost See
Heaven” by Country
Gospel artist Trish
Smith in 2005.
Todd is probably
best known as the
“man behind the
music” for
Cardio Coach,
an internationally
known guided workout
program created and
patented by fitness
guru Sean
O’Malley. The
series received rave
reviews in TIME
MAGAZINE, ABC NEWS,
THE NEW YORK TIMES
and THE WASHINGTON
POST. His
soundtrack work for
Cardio Coach has
spilled over to
other fitness
companies as well,
such as RPM Sports
(Ireland) and Fit Is
It (Baltimore, MD).
Classically trained
at ASU (after having
already won the
Sousa Award
at 16),
Todd’s recording
career began full
time in 1981 with a
Mark Five Studios
(Nashville)
contract, under the
expert guidance of
engineer Eddie
Howard. The
album he recorded
there with the band
Panic,
generated enough
radio airplay to
land him and the
band tour dates with
Billy Idol, The
Romantics and Sheila
E.
during the New Wave
invasion of the
early to
mid-eighties. He
followed up with a
two-year stint in a
New York studio,
which brought him
together with
producer Michael
Jonzun and the
production team for
New Kids On The
Block and New
Edition.
Much of Todd’s music
is now licensed for
film and TV through
the LA-based
Scorekeepers Music.
Notable clients are
HBO, VIACOM, LIVE
CLASSICAL CONCERTS,
SIRIUS AND XM
SATELLITE RADIO.
New on the horizon
are several albums
by artists from
3D Management
(Virginia), notably
Justin Shaw
(Gospel R&B) with
scheduled
appearances on
BET and a
pending label deal.
Todd listens with a
“producer’s ear”
musically and an
“engineer’s ear”
technically. He
admits, however,
that musical
expression and
performance are most
important, as
technical issues can
be easily solved in
the studio.

Todd works with
and has continued
affiliations with
the most prestigious
companies, studios
and labels in the
entertainment
industry.
